PALAKURA PAPPU/ DAL PALAK/ SPINACH DAL

Ingredients required
  • Chopped palak - 1½ cup
  • Tur Dal - 2 cups
  • Tomato - 1
  • Onion - 1
  • Sliced green chilly - 2
  • Mashed garlic - ½ tsp
  • Red chilly - 1
  • Cumin(jeera)seeds - ½ tsp
  • Mustard seeds - ¼ tsp
  • Methi seeds powder - ¼ tsp
  • Asafoetida(hing) - ¼ tsp
  • Turmeric powder - ¼ tsp
  • Salt - 1 tsp
  • Red chilly powder - ¾ tsp
  • Tamarind paste - ¼ tsp
  • Curry leaves - as required
  • Coriander leaves - as required
  • Oil - 4 tsp


      Method to prepare
      1. Take a pressure cooker, add tur dal, chopped palak, chopped tomato, chopped onion, green chilly, turmeric powder, 
           sufficient water, cook for three whistles and switch off the flame.
      2. Now add salt, red chilly powder, tamarind paste to the dal.
      3. Take a pan, add oil and allow to heat. Add Cumin seeds, mustard seeds, red chilly, mashed garlic, methi powder, 
          curry leaves, hing and fry for one minute in low flame and add to the cooked dal.
      4. Now cook dal for 2 minutes, add coriander leaves and switch off the flame.
      5. Tasty tasty palakura pappu is ready.
