POORNAM BOORELU/POORNALU

Ingredients required

  • Jaggery - 200 gms
  • Turdal - 250 gms
  • Rice - 100 gms
  • Urad dal - 100 gms
  • Salt -  ¼ tsp
  • Cardamom powder - ¼ tsp
  • Dry coconut powder - 2 tsp
  • Oil - to fry


     
     
     

       Method to prepare
      1. Soak rice urad dal in water for 3 hours.
      2. Grind it in the consistency of dosa batter and keep this batter aside.
      3. Cook turdal three fourth, strain it and keep aside.
      4. Take a pan, mash the turdal with masher, add jaggery, switch on the stove and cook.
      5. When jaggery thickens, add cardamom powder, coconut powder and switch off the stove.
      6. Make this mixture into balls and keep aside.
      7. Now, take batter add salt to it and mix well.
      8. Take a kadai, pour oil and allow to heat.
      9. Dip these prepared balls in batter and put in the oil and deep fry them in medium flame.
     10. Take out when they change into nice golden in color.
     11. Traditional poornam boorelu are ready for festive season.
