KAKARAKAYA TOMATO CURRY/ KARELA TOMATO

Ingredients required
  • Karela - 500 gms
  • Chopped tomato - 1½ cup
  • Chopped green chilly - 1
  • Finely chopped garlic - 2 tsp
  • Curd(yogurt) - ½ cup
  • Turmeric powder - ¼ tsp
  • Salt - ¾ tsp
  • Red chilly powder - ½ tsp
  • Curry leaves - as required
  • Coriander leaves - as required
  • Oil - 5 tsp

      Method to prepare
      1. Take a pan, add oil and allow to heat.
      2. Finely chop karelas and add to the oil.
      3. Fry them for 10 minutes in medium flame or fry in low flame until they change into light brown in color.
      4. Add green chilly, chopped garlic, chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, salt, mix well, close the lid and cook for 5 minutes.
      5. Add, red chilly powder, curd, 1 cup of water and cook for 5 to 7 minutes in low flame.
      6. When the curry gets thicken add, coriander leaves and switch off the flame.
      7. Tasty kakarakaya tomato curry is ready. Serve with rice or roti.
