PAV (BREAD FOR PAVBHAJI)

Ingredients required
  • All purpose flour(maida) - 4 cups
  • Lukewarm water - 2 cups
  • Yeast - ½ tsp or 4 gms
  • Butter - 5 tsp
  • Sugar - 1 tsp
  • Salt - ½ tsp
  • Eggs - one (optional)





      Method to prepare
      1. Take lukewarm water in a bowl, add yeast, sugar, mix well and keep aside for 4 to 5 minutes till yeast dissolves properly.
      2. Take a bowl, add flour(maida), salt, mix well. Pour the above yeast mixture slowly and knead as a soft dough for ten minutes.
      3. Coat 4 tsp of butter on the top of the dough, cover with a wet cloth and keep aside for one hour.
      4. After one hour the dough will rise. Knead the dough for one more minute, cover the dough with wet cloth and keep aside for 
          another one hour.
      5. Now, remove the air bubbles by punching the dough slowly, make equal parts as required size and place them on  baking pan 

          dusted with maida.
      6. Cover with wet cloth and keep aside for 30 minutes.
      7. Egg wash them with the help of your finger or paper napkin.(this is optional)
      8. Preheat oven at 1750 C and bake for 10 minutes or until they change into light golden in color.
      9. Take out from oven and coat with butter.
    10. Spongy, puffy and marvelous Pav(bread) is ready. Serve with bhaji(curry for pav/bread).
