MASALA VADA/ SENAGAPAPPU GARELU

Ingredients required
  • Chana dal - 1 ½ cup
  • Chopped ginger - ½  tsp
  • Cumin seeds - ½ tsp
  • Curry leaves - as required
  • mint leaves(pudina)- 2 tsp
  • Green chilly - 4
  • Chopped onion - ½ cup
  • Salt - ½  tsp
  • Cloves - 3
  • Cinnamon stick - 2
  • Oil - to fry

    
        Method to prepare
      1. Soak chana dal in water for 2 to 3 hours. Drain them.(Separate 3 tsp of soaked chana dal and keep aside).
      2. Powder the cloves, cinnamon stick and keep this masala powder aside.
      3. Make a soft paste of soaked chana dal, jeera(cumin seeds), green chilly, salt, pudina leaves, ginger by adding very little water.
      4. Now take a bowl add chana dal paste, Separated soaked chana dal, prepared masala powder, curry leaves, chopped 
          onion and mix well.
      5. Heat oil in a pan, make small vadas, put them in oil and fry in low flame until you get golden brown in colour.
      6. Crispy masala vada is ready. Serve them hot.
