BEERAKAYA KURA/RIDGE GOURD CURRY

Ingredients required

  • Ridge gourd - 500 gm
  • Oil - 4 tsp
  • Cumin seeds(jeera) - ¼ tsp 
  • Mustard seeds - ¼ tsp
  • Red chilly - 1
  • Curry leaves - as required  
  • Chopped onion - 1 cup
  • Sliced green chilly - 2
  • Chopped tomato - ½ cup
  • Garlic cloves - 10 
  • Turmeric powder - ¼ tsp
  • Salt - ¾ tsp
  • Red chilly powder - ¾ tsp
  • Milk - ½ cup
  • Coriander powder - ½ tsp
  • Cumin seeds powder - ½ tsp
  • Coriander leaves - as required



      Method to prepare 
      1. Take a pan add oil and allow to heat.
      2. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, red chilly, curry leaves, fry for few seconds. 
      3. Add onion, green chilly, garlic fry for 2 to 3 minutes in low flame. Add tomato close the lid and cook for 2 minutes.
      4. Now add chopped ridge gourd, turmeric powder, salt, red chilly powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, mix well. 
      5. Then add milk & stir well, close the lid and cook for 7 minutes in low flame. Add coriander leaves and switch off the flame.
      6. Mouth watering beerakaya kura is ready.
