- Chopped ginger - 1 cup
- Jaggery - ¼ cup
- Salt - 1 tsp
- Red chilly powder - 1 tsp
- Chana dal - ¼ tsp
- Mung dal - ¼ tsp
- Cumin(jeera)seeds - ¼ tsp
- Mustard(rai)seeds - ¼ tsp
- Red chilly - 1
- Tamarind paste - ¼ tsp
- Asafoetida(hing) - pinch
- Curry leaves - as required
- Oil - to fry
Method to prepare
1. Take a kadai, pour oil and allow to heat.
2. Add ginger, deep fry them for 4 to 5 minutes in medium flame, take out and switch off the flame.
3. Take a pan, add 1 tsp of oil, add fried ginger, tamarind paste, salt, red chilly powder, jaggery,half a cup of water.
4. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes in medium flame and switch off the flame. Grind to make a fine paste
5. For tempering, take a pan, add 2 tsp of oil and allow to heat.
6. Add chana dal, mung dal, jeera, rai, red chilly, curry leaves, hing, fry for 1 minute in low flame and add to the prepared paste.
7. Katta meetha allam chutney is ready. Serve this chutney for dosa, vada or bajjis.
