- Fish pieces - 500 gms
- Chopped onion - 1 cup
- Sliced green chilly - 2
- Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
- Tamarind juice - 1 cup
- Turmeric powder - ¼ tsp
- Salt - 1 tsp
- Red chilly powder - 1 tsp
- Coriander leaves - as required
- Curry leaves - as required
- Oil - 6 tsp
Masala ingredients
- Coriander seeds - 1 tsp
- Cumin(jeera)seeds - ½ tsp
- Methi seeds - ¼ tsp
- Black pepper - ¼ tsp
- Cloves - 3
- Cinnamon stick - 1
- Rice - ½ tsp
Method to prepare
1. Take a pan, allow to heat. Roast all masala ingredients for 4 minutes in low flame and make a fine masala powder.
2. Now take a kadai, add 3 tsp of oil. Add onion, green chilly, fry for 3 minutes in medium flame.
3. Then add ginger garlic paste and fry another 3 minutes in low flame, switch off the flame.
4. Add these fried onions to prepared masala powder, add turmeric powder, salt, red chilly powder and make a paste.
5. Add this paste to fish pieces and mix well.
6. Take a kadai, add rest of oil and allow to heat.
7. Add curry leaves,marinated fish pieces and fry for 3 minutes in medium flame.
8. Then add tamarind juice, sufficient water, mix perfectly, close the lid and cook for 10 to 15 minutes in medium flame.
9. Add coriander leaves and switch off the flame.
10. Spicy chepala pulusu is ready. Serve it hot with rice.
