MOONGDAL HALWA (PESARAPAPPU HALWA)

Ingredients required


  • Moongdal - ½ cup
  • Sugar - ¾ cup
  • Ghee -  ½ cup
  • Water - 2 cups
  • Cardamom powder - ½ tsp
  • Saffron - pinch
  • Almond & Cashew nuts - 10 no each
     

       Method to prepare

      1. Soak moongdal for 3 hours.
      2. Remove water and grind into paste by using little water.
      3. Mix dal paste and Ghee in a pan and switch on the flame.
      4. Stir continuously and cook for 10 minutes.
      5. Meanwhile take another pan add sugar and water and let it boil for 3 minutes.
      6. Add saffron and cardamom powder and let the syrup boil for another minute and switch off the stove.
      7. Add this syrup to the cooked moongdal and let it cook for 5 minutes in medium flame and cover it with a lid.
      8. When it starts living all sides then assume that Halwa is almost ready.
      9. Add almond & cashew nuts to the Halwa and switch off the flame.
      10. Thus the tasty Moongdal Halwa is ready to serve.
