- Tur Dal - 2 cups
- Tomato - 4
- Onion - 1
- Sliced green chilly - 2
- Mashed garlic - ½ tsp
- Red chilly - 1
- Cumin(jeera)seeds - ½ tsp
- Mustard seeds - ¼ tsp
- Methi seeds powder - ¼ tsp
- Asafoetida(hing) - ¼ tsp
- Turmeric powder - ¼ tsp
- Salt - 1 tsp
- Red chilly powder - ¾ tsp
- Tamarind paste - ¼ tsp
- Curry leaves - as required
- Coriander leaves - as required
- Oil - 4 tsp
Method to prepare
1. Take a pressure cooker, add tur dal, chopped tomato, chopped onion, green chilly, turmeric powder, sufficient water,
cook for three whistles and switch off the flame.

2. Now add salt, red chilly powder, tamarind paste to the dal.
3.Take a pan, add oil and allow to heat. Add Cumin seeds, mustard seeds, red chilly, methi seeds powder, mashed garlic,
curry leaves, hing and fry for one minute in low flame and add to the cooked dal.
