METHI RICE/ MENTHI KURA BIRYANI

Ingredients required
  • Chopped methi leaves - 2 cups
  • Rice - 2 cups
  • Water - 4 cups
  • Cloves - 3
  • Cinnamon stick - 2
  • Bay leaves - 2
  • Chopped tomato - 3 cups
  • Yogurt (Curd) - 
    1 ½ cup
  • Salt - 2 tsp
  • Oil - 4 tsp
  • Ghee - 1 tsp
  • Jeera - 1 tsp
  • Finely chopped ginger - 1 tsp
  • Sliced green chilly - 3

      Method to prepare
      1. Place pressure cooker on the stove, add oil and allow to heat.

      2. Add cloves, cinnamon stick, bay leaves, jeera, chopped ginger and fry for half a minute.
      3. Then, add green chilly, methi leaves and fry for 3 to 4 minutes.
      4. Add tomato, salt, close with the lid and cook for 5 minutes until tomato totally melts.
      5.  Now, add curd and let cook until the mixture get dry.
      6. Add rice, fry for one minute in medium flame and add water, ghee.
      7. Close the lid and cook upto 2 whistles.
      8. Methi rice is ready.
