- Green chilly(big) - 6
- Chopped onions - 1 cup
- Sliced green chilly - 1
- Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
- Grated tomato - 1 cup
- Yogurt(curd) - 3 tsp
- Tamarind paste - 1tsp
- Coriander leaves - as required
- Turmeric powder - ¼ tsp
- Salt 1 tsp
- Red chilly powder - ½ tsp
- Oil - to fry
Masala ingredients
- Pea nuts - 4 tsp
- Grated dry coconut - ½ cup
- Badam(almond) - 6
- Cumin(jeera)seeds - 1 tsp
- Coriander seeds - ½ tsp
- Cloves - 2
- Cinnamon stick - 1
Method to prepare
1. Dry roast all masala ingredients and make a fine masala powder.
2. Take a pan, add oil and allow to heat.
3. Add onion, green chilly, fry for 3 minutes in medium flame. Add ginger garlic paste, fry for another 3 minutes.
4. Then add, grated tomato, turmeric powder, salt, red chilly powder, cook for 2 minutes.
5. Add prepared masala powder, curd, tamarind paste, sufficient water, mix well, close the lid and cook this mixture for 5 minutes
in low flame.
6. Meanwhile, take a kadai, pour oil and allow to heat.
7. Slit the chillies, remove seeds and fry for 1 minute in low flame.
8. Now add these fried chillies to the above mixture. Add sufficient water, close the lid and cook for 5 minutes in low flame.
9. Add coriander leaves and switch off the flame.
10. Spicy & tasty mirchi ka salan is ready. Serve with roti or rice.
